On any given day in Massachusetts, DCF is serving over 50,000 kids from newborns to young adults up to 24 years old. These kids come from every city and town, they are living in our neighborhoods, they are in our kids’ class, on our kids’ teams. These are our kids.
Meet Jose and Jamal!
Brothers Jose and Jamal live in different foster homes, but they love to spend time together. The Wonderfund gave them the opportunity to go a special basketball camp, together. At camp, these two brothers gained new skills in a sport they love and had the kind of fun brothers deserve to have, together.
Amanda is a 16 year old who had struggled with making good and safe choices. Thanks to the Wonderfund, she was able to choose to take a life guarding certification class during her winter school vacation. She worked with her social worker to make the choice to go to classes and stay away from the friends and substances that were pulling her in the wrong direction. Now she’s a certified life guard and she’s qualified for a great job this summer and beyond. The first life this lifeguard saved was her own!
