MARBLEHEAD, Mass., September 28, 2026 — Cartwheel, the children’s health company behind Nit Happens, has donated 25 Nit Happens Complete Lice Treatment Kits and 50 School Day Spray daily detanglers to the Wonderfund, the nonprofit partner of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
The Wonderfund is distributing the products through the 29 DCF Area Offices it serves across Massachusetts. The Wonderfund told Cartwheel that its offices periodically request lice treatments for children and teens in state care, making the donation a direct response to an existing need.
“When the Wonderfund told us that DCF offices periodically request lice treatments, we knew this was something Cartwheel could help with,” said Joanna Shu, founder and CEO of Cartwheel. “These kids and teens are already navigating so much. If we can make one ordinary childhood problem a little easier for them and the social workers supporting them, we’re happy to do it.”
“Hygiene essentials can make a meaningful difference for children and teens in our care, helping them feel clean, confident and ready for school,” said Colleen Walsh, Director of Development and Communications at the Wonderfund. “We’re grateful to Cartwheel for responding to a need we see across our DCF offices and providing products that our social workers can have available when families need them.”
“As a child protective agency, we often work with children and families who are experiencing unexpected and challenging circumstances,” said a social worker at the North Central DCF office. “Some children enter care needing immediate personal care and support, including treatment for lice, while families may be struggling to access these necessities on their own. Having lice kits readily available allows our staff to respond quickly and provide children with the supplies they need, helping them feel comfortable, cared for, and treated with dignity during an already difficult time. This generous donation will make a meaningful difference for the children in our care and the families we serve, and we are incredibly grateful for the support of community partners who help us meet these needs.”
The products arrived at the Wonderfund’s Auburndale facility in September and are being distributed to DCF offices this fall. The donation includes Nit Happens Complete Lice Treatment Kits, a pesticide-free treatment that uses a physical method of action, and School Day Spray, a daily detangler for school-age families.
