We help kids be kids. Catching a fly ball, painting a beautiful picture, passing your driver’s test, these are the moments that all kids deserve. The Wonderfund gives kids and teens served by DCF the opportunity to enjoy childhood’s magical moments.

How We Serve

The Wonderfund was founded to exclusively serve children engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. Our unique partnership with DCF allows us the opportunity to work directly with social workers to meet the individual needs of these children.

Enrichment

Supporting Big Dreams

Investing in moments; things like music lessons, SAT prep, and soccer camp. These moments help children build confidence, character and foster lifelong respect for themselves and others by keeping their minds and bodies active outside of school. We believe that every child deserves to do the things they love and our goal is to enrich our kids’ lives.

Kids choose what they want to do

YOU make it possible for children and teens to engage with their friends and community, build confidence and skills and simply enjoy being kids! The Wonderfund encourages children to choose activities and programs that spark their imaginations, unleash their talents and bring them joy. Your donations to the Wonderfund allow kids to follow their dreams.

We fund enrichment activities through social worker requests in the following areas:

Camp
Summer camp, STEAM camp, sibling camp, and more.
Holiday Gift Drive
Holiday gifts meant just for them! Our Holiday Gift Drive matches donors with the real wish list of a child engaged with DCF – so they can receive the exact doll, LEGO set, or pair of sneakers they have their heart set on.
Enrichment Opportunities
All youth engaged with DCF are eligible for Enrichment Grants to fund the extracurricular activities of their choice.

Emergency Essentials

Comfort in a Time of Need

We provide comfort and dignity for thousands of children who experience home removal every year, often entering foster care with only the clothes on their back. 

Emergency Essentials

Every year, nearly 6,500 children are removed from unsafe homes and enter DCF Foster Care. These kids are often removed from their home with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In these moments, the Wonderfund provides emergency essentials to give children back a bit of comfort and dignity.

Wonderfund ensures that each of the 29 DCF Area Offices are stocked with necessities so social workers can be ready when children face an emergency situation. The resources we supply include:

Duffle Bags
Clothing Essentials
Seasonally-appropriate clothing, winter coats, pajamas, underwear, socks, shoes, and more.
Hygiene Kits
– Hair Care Kits for Children of Color
– Period Kits
Gift Cards
Modest gift cards for children entering foster care to purchase additional necessities or comfort items.
